Babineau Trophy

Graceann Nicolosi '20

Yale University

Graceann Nicolosi of St. Thomas, USVI claims her third consecutive Babineau trophy, awarded annually to the NEISA crew of the year.  Nicolosi earned this distinction with an impressive series of top scores in A-division, while sailing with 2020 NEISA co-ed sailor of the year, Shawn Harvey.  The duo brought out the best in each other’s performance all season long, highlighted by a 2nd place finish at the Schell Trophy, and a 3rd place finish at the Co-ed Showcase Finals -- both events representing the highest level of competition in college sailing.  Against competition that frequently substitutes for light air, or heavy air specialists, Nicolosi displayed her versatility and well-rounded skill set by competing in every race, and scoring top results in every sailing condition. Nicolosi beat out an impressive list of finalists for the Babineau Trophy that included: Katherine Bertolini ‘21 from Boston University, Julia Reynolds ‘21 from Brown University and Jessica Williams ‘20 from Harvard University.
